NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's track & field traveled to Muskingum on Saturday for their first official action of the new calendar year at Muskie Meet #1. The Battling Bishops finished with the top spot in the team standings, dominating the 16-team field with 107 points. OWU put up 66 points on the track and 41 in the field.
TRACK EVENTS
Jacob Blubaugh got the day started with a first place finish in the 3000 meter run, bringing home 10 points with a 8:58.82.
The Bishops' 4x200 meter relay team of
Joel Adade,
Ryan Tripp,
Joe Larkins, and
Connor Smith secured 10 points after taking the top spot with a time of 1:30.43.
Dylan Harper and
Michael Hess put up 14 more points for the Red and Black in the 60 meter hurdles. Harper pulled away with 10 points and a first place finish and 8.36. Hess secured four points on a fifth place finish at 9.00.
OWU would take 10 points from the 400 meter dash as
Alex Stoller finished third for six at 52.78 and Larkins came in fifth for four at 53.16.
Ohio Wesleyan secured seven points in the 500 meter dash with fifth and sixth place finishes from Hess and
Jayson Dyer. Hess ran a 1:12.12 for four points while Dyer ran a 1:13.01 for three points.
Perry Jackson nabbed ninth place in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:45.49, good for one team point.
Tripp put up eight points in the 200 meter dash, finishing second with a 22.62.
Finally, the 4x400 meter relay of Stoller, Sissi Seisie,
Angelo Ayers, and Adade took third with a time of 3:34.18, securing six points.
FIELD EVENTS
Ohio Wesleyan got started with eight points in the shot put.
Ayden Clary recorded a mark of 14.92 meters for third place and six points while
Peter Ortiz turned in a mark of 13.39 meters for seventh place and two points.
Ryan Tripp took second place and eight points in the long jump with a mark of 6.70 meters.
Tanner Sir Louis and
Griffin Sawyer secured 13 points for the Red and Black in the pole vault. Sir Louis finished second for eight points with a mark of 4.10 meters. Sawyer finished fourth for five points with a mark of 3.80 meters.
Clary retained one point in the weight throw with a 10th place finish and a mark of 13.35 meters.
Chinedu Melenu took one point with an eighth place finish in the triple jump at a mark of 12.17 meters.
Connor Smith secured OWU's final 10 points with a first place finish in the high jump, putting up a mark of 1.98 meters.
