SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's track & field team traveled to Wittenberg for the Steemer Showcase on Saturday. The Battling Bishops placed 10th in the 22-team field, tallying 25 points.
TRACK EVENTS
The quartet of
Joe Larkins,
Ryan Tripp,
Connor Smith, and
Nate Snead wrote their names into the record books in the 4x200 relay. The squad blazed to a school-record time of 1:27.63, taking second place and finishing just 0.18 seconds behind Wittenberg. The squad earned eight points for the Bishops.
Tripp continued his impressive day with a fifth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a lightning fast time of 22.16, tallying four more points. Conner Smith took ninth with a 22.39, and earned one point.
Dylan Harper took fourth place in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 8.33 and securing five points.
In the 4x400 relay
Michael Hess, Larkins,
Alex Stoller, and
Michael Strange finished eighth by a time of 3:28.49. The team earned one point for the Red and Black.
FIELD EVENTS
In the high jump,
Connor Smith finished fifth, jumping 1.96 meters and securing four points.
Ryan Tripp capped off a career day with an eighth place finish in the high jump, leaping 6.66 meters. Tripp earned one point.
Ayden Clary finished eighth in the shot put, throwing 14.88 meters and recording one point for the Bishops.

The Battling Bishops are back in action next Friday, as they travel north to Ashland for the two-day Jud Logan Open.
