DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer team (3-7-4, 0-3-0 NCAC) hosted John Carroll (3-7-3, 1-1-1 NCAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Battling Bishops were unsuccessful in scoring against JCU, resulting in their third conference loss at 3-0.
The Bishops tested the Blue Streak keeper six times in the first half hour but remained scoreless. On the other end, John Carroll opened up the game with two goals in the final 10 minutes of the half, scoring in the 36th and 40th for a 2-0 lead at the break.
JCU quickly added a third in the second half with a goal in the 46th minute. OWU's offense attempted a second-half comeback with seven shots following the third John Carroll goal, but came up empty, leading to a 3-0 final score.
THE NUMBERS
Ohio Wesleyan took 15 shots with eight on target. John Carroll had 18 shots with seven on target. JCU was awarded three corners while OWU had two. The Bishops made four saves. The Blue Streaks made eight saves.
Jordyn Adams was the lead striker with six shots and three on goal – both season highs.
Kaia Vorenkamp followed behind with two shots and two on target.
Ava Kolettis,
Jayelin Alexander, and
Maddy McCaster each finished with one attempt on target.
Payton Beard (1-5-2) and
Ava DeBolt each played for 45 minutes and made two saves.
