Bishops Blitzed by No. 17 Kenyon

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's soccer team (4-7-5, 3-3-1 NCAC) concluded their 2026 home schedule on Tuesday night, taking on 17th-ranked Kenyon at Jay Martin Soccer Complex. The Battling Bishops scored first, but a trio of Owl goals just before the half proved to be the difference, leading to a 4-2 losing result.

Chances were at a premium for the Bishops throughout, but especially in the first half. Cade Wurstner got off the first attempt for the Red and Black in the 26th minute, low center but saved.

Brady Catanzarite found success just over a minute later in the 27th, scoring on the fast break after sending one off the keeper and in. Nick Gallo was credited with the assist.

Unfortunately, the OWU lead was short-lived. Less than four minutes later, Kenyon netted their first of a string of three goals just before the half, scoring in the 31st, the 38th, and the 39th. The first and second goals would be disputed for offsides but stood after video review. And so, all of the sudden, the Owls held a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.

Kenyon kept the pressure up with six chances at the start of the second half: one saved by Andrew Davison, one off the woodwork, a couple blocked, one wide of the post, and the sixth in the back of the net. The goal came in the 62nd minute on a fast break that caught the Bishops off guard, giving the Owls a 4-1 lead going into the last half-hour.

The Red and Black managed just two attempts in the second half. The first, in the 67th minute by Carter Flynn, was blocked. The second ended up as a 90th-minute consolation goal courtesy of Brady Catanzarite, assisted by Jordan Domoe, bringing the final score to 4-2.

THE NUMBERS
OWU was outshot 20-5 overall and 9-3 in shots on goal. The Bishops made five saves compared to just one for Kenyon.

Brady Catanzarite scored his team-leading sixth and seventh goals of the season, moving into a tie for fourth in the conference.

Nick Gallo and Jordan Domoe now have two assists each, tied for second on the team.

Andrew Davison (4-3-2) made five saves.
