SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's track & field team competed at the NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championship hosted by Wittenberg over the weekend. The Battling Bishops finished fourth in the nine-team field, scoring 91.5 points.
HEPTATHLON RECAP
The Bishops started the weekend with three points after last weekend's NCAC Combined-Event Championship.
Tanner Sir Louis and
Michael Hess represented the Red and Black in the indoor heptathlon, finishing seventh and eighth.
Sir Louis secured seventh and earned two team points, scoring 4053 heptathlon points. On the track, he tallied 813 points with a 7.20 in the 60-meter dash, 568 points with a 9.86 in the 60-meter hurdles, and 523 points with a 3:15.21 in the 1000-meter run. In the field events, Sir Louis scored 610 points with a mark of 6.11 meters in the long jump, 525 points with a mark of 10.66 meters in the shot put, 411 points with a mark of 1.53 meters in the high jump, and finished off with a mark of 3.95 meters in the pole vault.
Hess closed out the OWU lineup in eighth place with 3936 heptathlon points, earning one team point. On the track, he nabbed 681 points at 7.60 in the 60-meter dash, 757 points at 8.95 in the 60-meter hurdles, and 673 points at 2:59.16 in the 1000-meter runs. In the field, Hess seized 521 points with a 5.69-meter mark in the long jump, 454 points with a 9.48-meter mark in the shot put, 552 points with a 1.71-meter mark in the high jump, and finally 298 points with a 2.75-meter mark in the pole vault.
TRACK EVENTS
OWU earned 62 points on the track, headlined by 18 in the 60-meter dash and 15 in the 200-meter dash.
The 18 points in the 60-meter dash came courtesy of three scorers with two in the top-three.
Nate Snead speeded to an NCAC Championship title with a 6.85, breaking both the NCAC record and the program record while also scoring 10 points and earning All-NCAC honors.
Joel Adade also earned All-NCAC honors with a third place finish at 6.91, earning six points and tying his career-best.
Ryan Tripp placed seventh and scored two points with a 7.09 after running a career-best 6.97 in prelims.
Snead and Tripp were back in the 200-meter dash, joined by
Connor Smith to score 15 points. Snead dropped another NCAC record along with the program record to win the NCAC Championship title at 21.54, scoring 10 points and earning All-NCAC honors.
Connor Smith also broke the previous NCAC and program records with a 21.93, scoring three points in sixth place. Tripp turned in a 22.62 in finals for seventh place and two points after breaking the NCAC and program records in prelims with a 21.84.
Dylan Harper recorded eight points in the 60-meter hurdles with a program-record 8.10 for second place and All-NCAC honors.
Siisi Seisie scored three points in the 400-meter dash, finishing sixth with a career-best 49.75 and getting a spot in the OWU all-time top-10.
The Battling Bishops tacked on 18 points in the relay events, scoring 10 in the 4x200, six in the 4x400, and two in the distance medley. The 4x200 team of Snead, Tripp,
Joe Larkins, and
Connor Smith broke the NCAC and program records with a time of 1:26.46, winning the NCAC Championship title, scoring 10 points, and earning All-NCAC honors. The 4x400 team of Seisie, McNeill, Stoller, and Larkins scored six with a third place finish, breaking the previous NCAC record with a 3:20.11 and earning All-NCAC honors. The DMR team of
Lucas Weaver,
Alex Stoller,
Perry Jackson, and
Jacob Blubaugh grabbed seventh and two points with a time of 10:28.29.
FIELD EVENTS
The Bishops put up 33.5 points in the field, headlined by high jump with 9.5 and shot put with nine.
The 9.5 points in the high jump came courtesy of
Connor Smith and
Ryan Tripp. Smith secured second with a mark of 1.96 meters, earning eight points and All-NCAC honors. Tripp put up a mark of 1.90 meters to tie for seventh and score 1.5 points.
The nine points in the shot put were put up by
Peter Ortiz and
Ayden Clary. Ortiz took second with a career-best mark of 15.36 meters, earning All-NCAC honors, eight points, and a spot on the OWU all-time top-10. Clary came in eighth with a mark of 14.17 meters, scoring one point.
Alex Bzdafka scored four points with a fifth place finish in the pole vault at a mark of 4.30 meters.
Tripp recorded a career-best mark of 6.81 meters in the long jump, placing fifth and scoring four points.

The Bishops set their sights on the NCAA Indoor National Championship on March 13th and 14th in Birmingham, Alabama.
