LEXINGTON, Va. – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's track & field team opened up the 2026 outdoor track & field season this past Friday and Saturday, competing at the Washington & Lee Carnival.
TRACK EVENTS
The highlight of the weekend for the Battling Bishops was a new program record in the 4x100-meter relay, set by
Joel Adade,
Connor Smith,
Ryan Tripp, and
Nate Snead blazing a 41.36.
Snead and Adade both took top-10 spots in the 100 meter dash. Snead won the event with a 10.74. Adade was 10th with an 11.06. Snead set a new personal best, rising to fourth on the OWU all-time top-10.
Michael Hess finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles, running a 57.20. He also took 10th in the 110-meter hurdles, running a 16.02.
Tripp, Snead, and Adade finished third, fourth, and seventh in the 200-meter dash. Tripp ran a personal-best 21.80, just missing a spot on the all-time top-10. Snead ran a 21.92 and Adade ran a 22.20.
Siisi Seisie and
Alex Stoller were sixth and ninth in the 400-meter dash. Seisie's time was 49.79 while Stoller's was a personal-best 50.59.
Perry Jackson was 10th in the 800-meter run at 2:02.31.
Jacob Blubaugh ended eighth in the 1500-meter run at 4:14.75.
Lucas Weaver turned in a 16:09.54 for sixth in the 5000-meter run.
FIELD EVENTS
Ayden Clary and
Peter Ortiz finished fifth and ninth in the discus throw. Clary recorded a mark of 39.04 meters. Ortiz recorded a mark of 36.93 meters.
Clary,
Andrew Bentz, and
Austin Roberts took second, fourth, and 10th in the hammer throw. Clary's mark was 44.10 meters. Bentz's mark was 41.87 meters. Roberts' mark was 37.11 meters.
Reigning indoor high jump national champion
Connor Smith started the outdoor season strong with a first place finish, jumping 1.99 meters.
Dominic Brown nabbed second in the javelin throw with a mark of 54.72 meters.
Ryan Tripp took second in the long jump with a personal best mark of 7.00 meters, moving up to sixth on the OWU all-time top-10.
Mack Fincham managed seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 3.89 meters.
Ortiz and Clary finished fourth and fifth in the shot put. Ortiz threw 14.32 meters. Clary threw 13.56 meters.
Chinedu Melenu took ninth in the triple jump, jumping 12.17 meters.
