GAMBIER, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's track & field team competed at the Duane Gomez Invitational hosted by Kenyon on Saturday. The Battling Bishops placed first in the seven-team standings with 164 points.
TRACK EVENTS
The Bishops started with 11 points in the 100-meter dash following second and sixth place finishes by
Nate Snead and
Joel Adade. Snead secured second with a time of 10.83. Adade was sixth with a time of 11.07.
The Red and Black racked up 27 points in the 400-meter dash, placing four in the top five.
Ryan Tripp and
Siisi Seisie were first and second with times of 49.53 and 50.21.
Aidan McNeill and Slex Stoller were fourth and fifth with times of 50.75 and 50.81.
Logan Lang was OWU's lone placer in the 200-meter dash, running a 23.13 for eighth place and one point.
Ohio Wesleyan nabbed three of the top four spots in the 800-meter run, walking away with 21 points.
Jacob Blubaugh won the event with a 1:58.00 even.
Perry Jackson and Jacob Marzulli were third and fourth with times of 1:58.82 and 1:58.83.
Lucas Weaver represented the Red and Black in the 1500-meter run, placing seventh and scoring two points with a time of 4:05.14.
Colby Sprague saw five points for the Battling Bishops in the 5000-meter run, running a 16:32.75.
Michael Hess and
Logan Bier earned seven points for the Bishops in the 110-meter hurdles. Hess secured fourth with a time of 15.89. Bier ran a 16.35 for seventh.
Hess was back at in the 400-meter hurdles, combining efforts with
Logan Patterson to score eight points for OWU. Hess finished third with a time of 56.43. Patterson nabbed seventh with a 59.08.
The Bishops 4x400-meter relay wrapped up the running events with a fifth place finish. Marzulli, Jackson, Bier, and Patterson ran a 3:37.68.
FIELD EVENTS
Connor Smith started the field events on a high in the high jump with yet another first place finish at 2.07 meters, taking home 10 points.
Alex Bzdafka and
Mack Fincham managed 12 points for Ohio Wesleyan in the pole vault. Bzdafka came in second with a mark of 4.25 meters. Fincham finished fifth with a mark of 3.95 meters.
Ryan Tripp and
Jaeden Jackson took 12 points for the Battling Bishops in the long jump. Tripp placed second at 6.58 meters. Jackson nabbed fifth at 6.15 meters.
Chinedu Melenu and
Aidan McNeill collected 13 points for the Bishops in the triple jump. Melenu ended in second with a mark of 12.28 meters. McNeill ended in fourth at 11.76 meters.
Peter Ortiz and
Ayden Clary combined for 11 points in the shot put. Ortiz was third at a mark of 14.52 meters. Clary was right behind in fourth at 14.51 meters.
Clary also finished fourth in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 48.14 meters and securing five points.
Dominic Brown and
Mack Fincham finished with 15 points for OWU in the javelin. Brown boasted a mark of 48.80 meters for the top spot. Fincham managed a toss of 40.70 meters for fourth place.

The Battling Bishops split up three ways next weekend, with contingents traveling to the Big Red Invitational on Friday, the Grand Valley Extra Weekend Meet on Saturday, and the NCAC Combined-Events Championship on Saturday and Sunday.
