DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's track & field team hosted the annual Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday at Selby Stadium and George Gauthier Track. The Battling Bishops took first in the eight-team field with 152 points.
TRACK EVENTS
Joel Adade got the Bishops started with six points for a third place finish in the 100-meter dash, running a 10.66.
Ryan Tripp and
Aidan McNeill collected 13 points for OWU in the 400-meter dash. Tripp took second with a 49.50 while McNeill nabbed fourth with a 50.19.
Jake Marzulli and
Perry Jackson combined for three points in the 800-meter run, finishing seventh and eighth with times of 2:02.70 and 2:03.03.
Jacob Blubaugh and
Lucas Weaver secured nine points in the 1500-meter run. Blubaugh finished fourth with a 4:11.06. Weaver was a tenth of a second behind in fifth with a 4:11.16.
The Red and Black took fifth, sixth, and seventh in the 5000-meter run for a total of nine points. Colby Sprauge took fifth at 17:46.82.
Tyler Tang took sixth at 17:51.66.
Haden Kirkham took seventh at 17:57.72.
Michael Hess and
Logan Bier recorded second and fourth place finishes to combine for 13 points in the 400-meter hurdles. Hess was second with a 57.69. Bier was fourth with a 59.26.
Ohio Wesleyan's 4x100-meter relay team of Adade,
Connor Smith, Tripp, and
Joe Larkins took third and six points with a time of 42.29.
OWU's 4x400 relay team composed of
Siisi Seisie, McNeill,
Alex Stoller, and Larkins secured third and six points with a time of 3:27.24.
FIELD EVENTS
Connor Smith secured another high jump victory and 10 points with a mark of 2.01 meters.
Logan Bier recorded a 1.76-meter mark for fourth and five points.
The Battling Bishops totaled 12 points in the pole vault with
Alex Bzdafka,
Mack Fincham, and
Daren Styer taking second, sixth, and eighth at marks of 4.25 meters, 3.95 meters, and 3.80 meters.
Ryan Tripp and
Jaeden Jackson combined for eight points in the long jump with third and seventh place finishes. Tripp jumped 6.79 meters for third. Jackson jumped 6.32 meters for seventh.
Chinedu Melenu and
Aidan McNeill took the top two spots in the triple jump for 18 points. Melenu made a mark of 12.57 meters while McNeill made a mark of 12.12 meters.
Ayden Clary recorded a mark of 13.56 meters for fifth and four points in the shot put.
Austin Roberts and Clary totaled 11 points in the hammer throw, finishing in third and fourth place. Roberts tossed for 46.38 meters. Clary tossed for 45.02 meters.
Dominic Brown and Fincham finished the day with 13 points in the javelin, throwing 50.31 meters and 41.71 meters for second and fourth place.
