DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer team (0-1-0, 0-0-0 NCAC) hosted Transylvania (1-0-0, 0-0-0 HCAC) for the first game of the 2026 season on Tuesday night. The Bishops faced a 2-0 deficit at the break but battled back in the second half to pull within one and push for a draw or better. Unfortunately, the chances would not come to fruition in the final six minutes, leaving OWU with a 2-1 losing decision.
Transylvania made the most of the limited opportunities they had in the first half, scoring on two of their three chances. The goals came in the 13th and 38th minutes, putting the Pioneers up 2-0 before the break. On the other end, the Red and Black came up empty-handed in eight attempts.
The Battling Bishops continued to push forward in the second half with 10 scoring chances. Ohio Wesleyan finally nabbed a goal in the 84th minute after a fast break. A ball ahead to

Ava Kolettis on the right wing. Kolettis sent it back towards McCaster in the box who drew the attention of the defender, allowing
Jordyn Adams an unimpeded tap-in on the back post.
With new energy, the Red and Black kept the attack going for the final six minutes. However, Transylvania's defense stood strong and kept the Bishops out of the net, leading to a 2-1 final scoreline.
THE NUMBERS
OWU held an 18-5 advantage in overall shots, and a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal. Ohio Wesleyan was awarded eight corner kicks opposed to Transylvania's two.
Jordyn Adams scored her first goal of the season and her 12th of her career. She takes an early points lead with two.
Ava Kolettis collected her first assist of the year, adding a point for her efforts.
Ava DeBolt (0-1) made her debut in the goal for OWU. The sophomore transfer played the full 90 minutes in her first career game at the NCAA Division III level, facing five shots.
