EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's cross country team competed at the high-powered Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State on Friday morning, running on the same course where Battling Bishops men's cross country All-American Quentin Brelsford won the 1946 NCAA championship. The Bishops finished 11th in the 24-team field that featured the Spartans as well as other Division I programs Toledo, Michigan, Ohio, Butler, Ohio State, and Southern Indiana.
Michigan State (40) won the meet, with Toledo (42), Michigan (81), Ohio (111), Butler (162), Ohio State (165), and Southern Indiana (230) filling in the rest of the top seven. Ohio Wesleyan (358) finished fourth amongst Division III competition, preceded by Hope (255), John Carroll (294), and Calvin (308).
Zoe Ward,
Ella Chomic, and
Sophie Cotts were the first three across the line for the Bishops. Ward ran a 22:48.7 and finished 77th to score 54 points. Chomic came in 86th with a career-best 23:00.5 to score 60 points. Cotts took 105th with a 23:21.0 to score 71 points.
Hope Morris and
Elsa Hoam were the final two scorers for OWU. Morris ran a 23:35.8 for 122nd place and scored 83 points. Hoam came in 134th with a 23:47.4 to score 90 points.
Brianna Montgomery and
Reghan Gist were the displacers for the Red and Black. Montgomery ran a 23:55.9 for 140th place. Gist turned in a career-best 24:04.7 for 147th.

Ohio Wesleyan will take a few weeks off from meets before returning to host the OWU Invitational on October 2 at Liberty Park.
