ADA, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's soccer team (1-3-0, 0-0-0 NCAC) visited Ohio Northern (2-1-2, 0-0-0 OAC) on Wednesday night. Despite an even contest in the shots category, the Battling Bishops would be scoreless at the end of the night while the Polar Bears secured a 2-0 win.
OWU and ONU kicked off about an hour late after a weather delay. When the game did get going, the Red and Black staved off three early attacks from Ohio Northern to keep the score level. The Bishops pushed forward on the attack following a red card assessed to ONU in the 31st minute, having four chances in the final 15 minutes of the first half and putting three of them on target but coming up scoreless.
The tide shifted in the second half as the Polar Bears went back on the attack and put in two quick-hitters in the 66th and 67th minutes. Ohio Wesleyan would get three chances in the remainder of the game but all would fall offline, leaving a 2-0 losing result.
THE NUMBERS
The Battling Bishops took 11 shots and put five on target. Ohio Northern took 13 shots and put six on target. Corner kicks were even at six apiece. Bishop keepers combined for four saves.
Jordan Domoe and
Sam Robledo led the attack with two attempts each, both putting one on target.
Vittorio Renda,
Jack Jennings, and
Maddox Andrea were responsible for the three remaining shots on goal.
Andrew Davison played the first 45 minutes in goal, making one save.
Zach Hertzberg (0-1-0) took over in the second half and made three saves.
