HANOVER, Ind. – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer team (2-3-4, 0-0-0 NCAC) traveled west to play Hanover (4-3-1, 0-0 HCAC) on Tuesday evening. The Battling Bishops and the Panthers both failed to gain a lead throughout the game, resulting in a 0-0 draw.
The first half of the game started off slow with the first shot being in the 11th minute by Hanover. The first half continued very gradually with the second shot coming at the end of the first half in the 38th minute, again by the Panthers, but was successfully caught by
Payton Beard being the first save of the game. Due to the lack of scoring chances, OWU and Hanover went into half-time with a score of 0-0.
Straight out of the gate in the second half, the Panthers got off a shot in the 46th minute of the game, but were not able to score. OWU started to pick up their attack in the 53rd minute with their first attempt by
Ava Kolettis, but unfortunately was saved by the Panthers. Hanover, not ready to back down, attempted another shot in the 75th minute, resulting in an increase in Beard's saves to two. The Bishops fought back with another shot in the 80th minute, again by Kolettis, but unfortunately ended up left of the goal.
Ohio Wesleyan gave one last try in the 83rd minute with a shot by
Beatrice Douglas-Arnold, however it was saved by Hanover, resulting in a tie of 0-0.
THE NUMBERS
Ohio Wesleyan had three shots, while Hanover only achieved two more with five. Both teams hit two shots on target, as well as made two saves. The Panthers gained all four corners awarded.
Sophomore
Ava Kolettis attempted the most shots with two with one on target.
Beatrice Douglas-Arnold had one, on target.
Payton Beard (1-1-2) put up her third straight complete-game shutout with two saves in the 90 minutes.
