Women’s Soccer Held Scoreless in 3-0 Loss to Capital

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer team (3-4-4, 0-0-0 NCAC) concluded non-conference play on Tuesday night with a familiar foe, going up against Capital (7-2-0, 0-0-0 OAC) at home. Despite an even first half, three second half concessions would spell defeat for the Battling Bishops, falling to the Comets 3-0.

The first 45 minutes was fairly even with six shots by the Bishops and seven shots for CU. All efforts came up empty, leading to a 0-0 split at the break.

Capital started putting on more pressure in the second half and eventually broke through with three goals in the span of 19 minutes. The Comets utilized their counterattack to score on the break in the 65th, 76th, and 83rd minutes.

Despite some late chances, the Red and Black were unable to erase the zero on the scoreboard, ending in a 3-0 final.

THE NUMBERS
Capital led in shot attempts at 19-15 and shots on goal at 5-3. Both sides were awarded four corner kicks. OWU made two saves compared to three for CU.

Jordyn Adams had the most attempts with five, putting one on target. Bailey Hawkins recorded three shots with one on goal. Maddy McCaster took one shot, on target.

Payton Beard (1-2-2) played the full 90 minutes and made two saves.
