DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer team (0-2-1, 0-0-0 NCAC) wrapped up their three-game opening week on Saturday with a midafternoon matchup against Sewanee (2-0-0, 0-0-0). The Battling Bishops conceded an early goal and suffered a shutout on the offensive end, falling 1-0.
Sewanee went ahead in the ninth minute and held the Bishops to just one shot in the first half. OWU had five chances to equalize in the second half, but all ended up off the mark.
THE NUMBERS
Ohio Wesleyan had six shot attempts. Sewanee ended with 20 shots, seven on target. The Bishops took six corner kicks as opposed to eight for the Tigers.
Jayelin Alexander took two shots.
Bailey Hawkins,
Nadia Giannetti,
Mia Bucci, and
Beatrice Douglas-Arnold each had one attempt.
Ava DeBolt (0-2-1) started the game and made two saves in the first half.
Payton Beard played the second half and made three saves.
