Ohio Wesleyan's Team of Distinction recognition was founded in 2017. Team of Distinction honors recognize entire teams for their accomplishments and the honors they have brought to Ohio Wesleyan. Individual athletes are recognized through the
Ohio Wesleyan Athletics Hall of Fame.
The Team of Distinction selection committee includes representatives from the athletics department, University Advancement, and alumni, and is responsible for screening and selecting teams to be recognized. The committee may select up to two teams to be recognized each year, and may choose not to honor any teams in a given year.
Team of Distinction recognition is done in conjunction with the annual Ohio Wesleyan Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony, but does not convey membership in the Athletics Hall of Fame upon any individual member of the team(s) recognized.

2017: 1946 men's cross country, 1987-88 men's basketball
2018: 2002 women's soccer
2019: 1992-93 men's golf, 1998 men's soccer, 2001 women's soccer
2020: 1976 men's lacrosse, 2000-01 women's basketball
2021: 1958 baseball, 1974 field hockey
2022: 1967 football, 2011 men's soccer
2023: none selected
2024: 1961-62 men's basketball, 1990 men's soccer
Team of Distinction Nomination Criteria
Teams may be recognized for:
- Achievement in postseason play, such as national or regional championships, or distinguished or outstanding feats in NCAA national and/or regional competition
- Garnering national or regional recognition
- Undefeated seasons
- School records
A team may not be nominated until 10 years after the conclusion of the academic year in which it competed. Teams that competed prior to the fall of 2015 are eligible to be nominated for the 2026 Team of Distinction.
Nomination Procedures and Deadlines

Team of Distinction nomination form.
Please note that only information submitted using the official nomination form will be accepted. All information submitted without using the nomination form will not be seen by the selection committee or used in the selection process.
The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2026 Team of Distinction is March 1, 2026.
