Ohio Wesleyan University junior Claude Gray (Avon) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 8, it was announced by the NCAC.
Gray, a post player on the Ohio Wesleyan men's basketball team, was named Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Gray scored 10 points during a 23-3 second-half run that opened up a 23-point Ohio Wesleyan lead as the 14th-ranked Bishops defeated 10th-ranked Wooster, 92-89, last Wednesday. Gray finished with a career-high 33 points, eclipsing the career best of 31 points he set earlier this season, and led the Bishops with 6 rebounds. In Ohio Wesleyan's 76-74 win over Denison on Saturday, Gray blocked a potential game-tying shot with :04 to play. He led the Bishops with 19 points, with 14 of those coming in the first half. On the week, he averaged 26.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game and added 4 assists, 4 blocks and 2 steals while shooting 55.9 percent from the floor (19 of 34), 53.3 percent from 3-point range (8 of 15), and 75.0 percent from the free throw line (6 of 8).
