Ohio Wesleyan University senior Nate Newman (Chillicothe/Zane Trace) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of April 9, it was announced by the NCAC.
Newman, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan men's track & field team, was named men's Field Events Athlete of the Week.
Newman won the decathlon at the All-Ohio combined events meet on Saturday and Sunday, scoring a total of 6262 points to finish nearly 700 points ahead of his nearest competitor. Newman had the meet's best performance in the first 6 events, posted the best performance among Division III competitors in the seventh, and tied for first in the eighth of the 10 events. It marked the third All-Ohio decathlon championship for Newman, who also won in 2015 and 2017.
