Gomez Named North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Week of Sept. 24

Ohio Wesleyan University freshman Hector Gomez (Columbus/St. Francis DeSales) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 24, it was announced by the NCAC.

Gomez, a midfielder on the Ohio Wesleyan men's soccer team, was named Men's Soccer Player of the Week.

Gomez scored in the 54th minute to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay in a win over Otterbein on Wednesday.  He then set up the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Oberlin in the Bishops' North Coast Athletic Conference opener on Saturday.  The win was the 700th career victory for Ohio Wesleyan head coach Jay Martin, making him the first NCAA men's soccer coach in any division to reach the 700-win mark.
