On race day, I always have a banana, and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich two and a half hours before the race.

Meet the Bishops: Get to know a little about Libby Norlander of the Ohio Wesleyan women's cross country team

Class Year: 2022

Major: Undecided

How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I wanted something new and different from California, a smaller school that really cared for their students, and I definitely wanted to keep running.

How/Why did you choose your major?
I haven’t decided on a major yet, but I am interested in Economics, Finance, and Environmental Science.

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
In high school, I wore the same white scrunchie in my hair for every race for good luck, but this year, the girls team made black and red ribbons for our hair, so I guess now I have a new good luck charm.

What is your number one goal, personal or for your team, for this season?
I have never done cross country before, so my goal this season is to try my best, but also to get to know the sport some more and create strong relationships with my teammates.

What is the best part about being an OWU student athlete?
The best part about being an OWU student athlete is that school comes first. I have a class that ends when practice starts and there’s no pressure for me to skip class. I just head over after.

Why did you choose to compete in a sport at Ohio Wesleyan?
I decided to compete in a sport mostly because I love having something active to do outside of class. I noticed in high school that my grades were always better during track season because I learned how to study efficiently and manage my time.

What is your ideal travel destination?
I would love to travel to Paris. I’m taking French and I want to use what I’ve learned.

What is your go-to snack on race day?
On race day, I always have a banana and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich 2 1/2 hours before the race.

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
I would want to share a meal with Anne Frank, Ariana Grande, and Jackie Kennedy.
