I knew I wanted to teach since I was little, it was just a matter of what I wanted to teach.
Name: Meredith Richters
Class Year: 2022
Majors: English for educators, French
How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
Ohio Wesleyan was the only school I visited that allowed me to swim, do marching band, double major, and finish in 4 years. The campus felt like home, too!
How/why did you choose your major?
I knew I wanted to teach since I was little, it was just a matter of what I wanted to teach. After a trip to France right before my French program was cut due to a teacher shortage, I knew that French was what I wanted to teach! I am getting licensed in English too to complement the French.
Which is your favorite event/competition?
Either the North Coast Athletic Conference meet or the Corbiere-Merion Invitational.
What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory on OWU Swim and Dive is either one of the trips to Florida my freshman and sophomore year. We worked hard, but we had a lot of fun, too!
What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
I'd love to have an NCAA B cut by the end of the season, but the biggest thing personally is to feel fulfilled after my 13-year swimming career. For the team, I'd love to see us place higher at conference this year!
How/why did you choose your event/position?
I came into college swimming IM and breaststroke, but after a breakout swim my senior year of high school, I started swimming butterfly more. I wanted to work more on my 200 fly one day, and I realized that I could do it well.
Why do you like your event/position?
The 200 fly is HARD. I really like the endurance aspect of it. Once you develop a rhythm, it's a satisfying event to swim... even if it hurts a lot!
What is your theme song?
How cliché is it to say the entire Hamilton soundtrack?
Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
William Shakespeare (the stereotypical English major choice), David Tennant (the nerdy choice), and my Papa (the family choice).
What is your ideal travel destination?
Paris, France! I was fortunate enough to be able to study abroad there this summer, and I loved every minute of it! I was only there for a month, and there was so much I didn't get to do. I'd love to go back and experience it all over again!
