The campus is beautiful and I like the separation between academic buildings and housing.

Name:  Sophie Leohner

Class year:  2025

Major:  Business administration (marketing concentration)

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I get to play softball here which was a big part of why I chose OWU.  The distance from home is perfect for what I desire.  The campus is beautiful and I like the separation between academic buildings and housing.  There are tons of nearby shops and restaurants, which I love. The campus is very peaceful and the downtown area is fun to walk around, especially in the fall and spring.

Why did you choose your major?
I have grown up around business owners and like to see the marketing side of their work.  The design elements my Mom uses in her event planning really appeal to me and I'm excited to find my own creative career in marketing.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memories so far are beating Rowan University and Western New England at spring training and sweeping Hiram this season.

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
We like to play a minigame with a frisbee or squishy ball before we take the field to stay loose and have fun, which I love.

Why did you choose your position?
Coach (Cassie Cunningham) asked me to play first base for our team this year and I absolutely love it.

Why do you like your position?
My favorite thing about first base is watching my teammates get hype from their routine and ESPN-worthy plays.  The most satisfying feeling is the ball secure in my glove before I hear the stomp of the runner hit the bag.

What is your theme song?
Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper.  I will always be a kid at heart and strive to bring joy to others each day.

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
My great grandma on my Mom's side because I didn't get to meet her and I love the stories I've heard about her, Jennifer Aniston, Jesus
