Name:  Alayna McMullen

Class year:  2025

Major:  Biology

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I was interested in playing basketball and the OWU basketball program had a great program and core values that aligned with exactly what I wanted to accomplish in my 4 years here.

Why did you choose your major?
I plan on attending (physician assistant) school!

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory was the bus ride home after we won the (North Coast Athletic C)onference (tournament) championship!

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
I like to go to Pulp and get smoothies before games, and I also like to write on my basketball shoes each year in honor of my grandma that passed away.

What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
I find myself beginning to be very encouraging to my teammates and others and I tend to be an optimistic person.

What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
A goal of mine for this season is to be grateful for every opportunity because not everyone gets to play at this level, and always work hard.

What event/sport other than your own would you like to try?
I think that I would like to try football and put on all the pads and the helmet.

Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
Coach (Stacey Ungashick) Lobdell and Coach Susan Smith have been huge influences for me in my career here.  They have helped to shape me not only as an athlete but an individual.  My freshman year I came in not fully prepared and Coach Lobdell had nothing but confidence and faith in me and helped me grow so much!  She was and still is truly one of my greatest mentors!

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Super speed

What is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
My favorite place to eat in Delaware is Raising Cane's, my go to order is a 3-finger combo with an extra sauce and a sweet tea.

What is your ideal travel destination?
I have always wanted to go to Greece and Italy.

What is your favorite place that you have traveled to as an OWU student-athlete?
St. Louis was a cool trip because we were able to go up into the (Gateway Arch) as a team and it was super fun.

What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a student-athlete?
It is definitely a huge commitment but if you're willing to buy into your teammates and coaches and just be present every day it is so rewarding!

What is your dream job and why?
My dream job is to be a surgeon because ever since I was little I have always wanted to make people feel better and I have always been fascinated by the components of surgery and how the human body works!
