Name:  Kaelyn Rodriguez

Class year:  Junior

Major:  Sports and exercise management with a minor in coaching

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan because I was able to play softball and get the experience of living away from home.

Why did you choose your major?
I chose sports management and coaching because I have always been interested in sports media and sports broadcasting and this was a good way to get exposed to the general ideas.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose to compete in sports here because of the atmosphere and the team had a close-knit feel that I was looking forward to.

Which is your favorite position?
Pitcher

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory so far was the (North Coast Athletic Conference) tournament last year, just being able to be surrounded by some of my best friends in Indiana and being able to see all the hard work we put in pay off.

What are your strengths as an athlete?
I would say a strength of mine is being able to keep my composure in any stressful or pressured situation.  Being able to be calm and composed as a pitcher is a good way for my team to also see that I am relaxed and not affected by the stress.

What is your number one goal, personal or team for this season?
My team goal for this season is for us to return and host the tournament. We didn't lose anyone from last season and have gained freshmen who have already made a huge impact.  I am excited to see where we go and to see all the hard work we put in pay off.

What is your ideal travel destination?
Turks and Caicos

What advice would you give someone considering becoming a student-athlete?
One tip of advice that I would give someone considering being a student-athlete is to be confident in your own abilities.  Being able to know your strengths and weaknesses is key to being a self-aware student-athlete and can translate on and off the field.
