...I wasn't always set on playing sports in college, but OWU being able to meet both my athletic and academic needs persuaded me to give it a shot...

Name:  Zane Vitense

Class year:  2026

Majors:  Business administration (management concentration), sports and exercise management

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan because I have extended family nearby, along with an opportunity to play baseball and attend a highly touted academic institution.

Why did you choose your majors?
In my sophomore year I declared for my majors because as a student-athlete, I want to find a job within a college that can make changes in other student-athletes' lives for the better, helping change the landscape of collegiate sports.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I wasn't always set on playing sports in college, but OWU being able to meet both my athletic and academic needs persuaded me to give it a shot.  Deep down I love baseball and I don't know what I would do if I wasn't playing.

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
I don't really have a lot of pre-game rituals that are unique but some pre-game rituals I do include listening to the same playlist every game, journaling, and meditation.

What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
A goal I have for our team is to remember why we love playing the game, and win some games during the process.

Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
Growing up, my dad coached and mentored me in all of my sports.  I credit him for a majority of my success throughout my lifetime not only on the field but off of it as well.

What advice would you give to someone looking to become a student-athlete?
When you are a student-athlete, especially at the Division III level, you need to be able to balance your time between all the needs you have in your life, so find a way of organizing time and workload and stick with it.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
A super power I would want is to teleport.

What is your ideal travel destination?
My ideal travel destination is Italy or Alaska.

What is your favorite season and why?
Spring is my favorite season because it is the start of the baseball season.
