NCAC RELEASE

CLEVELAND, Ohio – On Tuesday morning, the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) announced Ohio Wesleyan University men's soccer senior midfielder/forward Tristan Ruiz de Somocurcio as the NCAC Athlete of the Week for men's soccer. This is Ruiz de Somocurcio's first time earning the award.

Ruiz de Somocurcio started the week off strong with a 57th minute goal on Wednesday at Capital to give the Bishops a 3-1 victory over the Comets. He would follow that up with a career day on Saturday, as he scored his first career brace with two goals to lead OWU to a 3-1 win over Marietta. 

All-in-all, Ruiz de Somocurico took seven shots on the week, putting six on goal, and three in the back of the net. With three goals this week, he also set himself a new single-season career high for scoring.

Ruiz de Somocurcio and the Battling Bishops will be back in action tomorrow as they host Wilmington at 7 p.m. at Jay Martin Soccer Complex.

Ruiz de Somocurcio is the first NCAC Athlete of the Week honoree for Ohio Wesleyan this academic year.
