COLUMBUS, Ohio – Last week, the National Football Foundation Columbus Chapter held its 65th annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet at the Ohio Union on the campus of The Ohio State University. The banquet honors the top high school and college football athletes from central Ohio for their achievements on and off the field.
Among the honorees were representatives from seven central Ohio colleges: Ohio Wesleyan, Ohio State, Capital, Denison, Kenyon, Ohio Dominican, and Otterbein.
Representing Ohio Wesleyan University was senior running back
Devon Haley. Haley played in 37 games throughout his four seasons with the Battling Bishops, accumulating 1195 yards and 15 touchdowns rushing along with 203 yards and two touchdowns receiving. He led the Bishops on the ground with 458 net yards and six touchdowns this past season.
Haley is currently completing his degree in Zoology and will graduate in the spring. With his work in the classroom, he has earned Dean's List recognition, achieving a grade point average of 3.50 or better on a 4.00 scale. Haley has presented twice at the Patricia Belt Conrades Summer Science Research Symposium and was a recipient of the Theory-to-Practice Grant for his work on a project researching the gut microbiome of city-dwelling common wall lizards.

The National Football Foundation is a member-supported, non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the future of amateur football at local, state, and national levels. The NFF with its chapters awards nearly one million dollars annually in scholarships to over 3000 high school and college student-athletes for continuing education.
