Stutz and Tripp Pace Bishops at Nye Intercollegiate

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's golf team was back on the course this past Sunday and Monday, competing once again in a tournament hosted by Wooster – the Nye Intercollegiate at Wooster Country Club. The Battling Bishops placed fourth in the nine-team field, shooting rounds of 319 and 309 for a total of 628 strokes at the par-72 6545-yard course.

Nate Tripp paced the Bishops with a 76 in round one, followed closely by Gavin Stutz at 77. Ryan Ashby carded an 82 for day one, with Daniel Golin taking the last spot on the team card at 84 to total 319 for the day. Callahan Lawler recorded an 88.

Round two saw some improvement as the Red and Black cut off 10 shots overall to card a team score of 309. Ashby dropped seven strokes on his way to a 75 on day two, leaving him tied for 14th overall at 157. Stutz put up a 76 to give him 153 for the tournament, tying at fifth overall. Tripp tallied a 78 for the second round, finishing tied for ninth with a total of 154. Lawler claimed the last spot on the team scorecard for the round, shooting an 80 to finish tied for 42nd. Golin ended with a 170 after a second round of 86, taking 49th.

Jacob Spann played as an individual, carding an 87 for round one and a 79 for round two to finish 40th with 166 strokes.

The Battling Bishops will be back on the course on Sunday, competing at the Denison Spring Shootout at Denison Golf Club in Granville.
