INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On Friday night, the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track & Field Committee announced the participants for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, set to take place on May 21st through 23rd at Veteran's Memorial Field in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Ohio Wesleyan University earned selections in three events: men's high jump, women's 100-meter hurdles, and women's 4x100-meter relay.
Connor Smith earned a spot in the men's high jump field – his second trip to the outdoor national championships following a ninth-place finish last year. The reigning indoor high jump national champion put up the 12th-best mark in the country in the outdoor high jump this season, jumping 2.07 meters and taking first place at the Duane Gomez Invitational in Gambier on April 18th.
Katherine Dortmund earned a spot in the women's 100-meter hurdles field – her second trip to the outdoor national championships following a 13th-place finish last year. She currently holds the fifth-best time in the country, an Ohio Wesleyan-record 13.77 set at the NCAC Championships in Gambier on May 2nd.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team of
Aelyn Baumbarger,
Kennedy Elfers, Dortmund, and
Alaina Nathan earned a spot in the field with the 17th-best time in the country after breaking the Ohio Wesleyan record three times this season. The quartet are coming in hot after breaking the mark again on the last day of regular season competition, running a 46.84 at the Augustana Final Qualifier on Thursday.
Smith will start off action for the Red and Black on Friday in the men's high jump final around 11 a.m. The prelims of the women's 4x100-meter relay will follow around 3 p.m., with Dortmund wrapping the day up in the women's 100-meter hurdles prelims around 4:05 p.m.
