Bishops Open Season Second at Oiler Open

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's track and field team opened their season on Friday night, competing in the Oiler Open hosted by the University of Findlay. That Battling Bishops tallied 61 points through the night, finishing second in the eight-team field. The Red and Black recorded 30 points in jumps, 14 in sprints, 11 in hurdles, and six in distance.

JUMPS (30 POINTS)
Amarah McPhaul, Hailey Harris, and Kali Kohler were the scorers for OWU in the high jump. McPhaul led with a mark of 1.52 meters for 4.5 points and a fourth place finish, followed by Harris with 1.42 meters for 2.5 points and sixth place, and Kohler with 1.37 meters for one point and eight place.

Addie Beck and Stephanie Novak scored for the Bishops in the pole vault. Beck finished sixth and scored three points with a mark of 3.27 meters. Novak notched one point with an eight place finish and a mark of 2.92 meters.

Kohler and Abrianna Hite took the top two spots in the long jump. Kohler landed a mark of 5.08 meters for first place and 10 points. Hite tallied eight points on a 4.88-meter second place jump.

SPRINTS (14 POINTS)
Alaina Nathan and Katherine Dortmund finished fourth and sixth in the 60-meter dash, scoring five and three points respectively. Nathan ran a 7.81 and Dortmund ran a 7.92.

Kaylee Lusk scored five points with a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.32.

Kennedy Elfers finished eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.59 for one point.

HURDLES (11 POINTS)
Katherine Dortmund scored eight points in the 60-meter hurdles, joined by Kateri Hoy with three. Dortmund ran a 9.06 for second place. Hoy finished sixth with a time of 9.91.

DISTANCE (6 POINTS)
Abrianna Hite tallied six points in the 800-meter run with a third place finish and a time of 2:44.56.

AT GVSU HOLIDAY OPEN
Ohio Wesleyan was represented at another meet up in Allendale, Michigan by junior distance runner Sophie Cotts competing at the GVSU Holiday Open hosted by Grand Valley State University. Cotts took fifth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:50.54.

UP NEXT
The Bishops will be back in action after the new year, hosting the OWU Alumni Meet on January 10th at the newly renovated Gordon Field House.
