CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's and women's golf teams traveled to the Cleveland area on Sunday and Monday to take part in the JCU Donald Ross Invitational hosted by John Carroll at Manakiki Golf Course and Shaker Heights Country Club. The men's side finished seventh in their eight-team field. The women's side finished sixth in their six-team field. The Otterbein men and the John Carroll women were the winners of the tournament.
MEN
The Ohio Wesleyan men found themselves in sixth place after a team score of 310 on day one at Manakiki.
Daniel Golin paced the Bishops with a 73, followed by
Callahan Lawler with a 76,
Gavin Stutz with a 77, and
Gavin Clark with an 84.
Nate Tripp turned in an 85.
OWU would drop three strokes on day two at Shaker Heights, shooting 307 and finishing with a total of 617. Golin's second round was a 77, leaving him T-9th with a 150. Stutz was a stroke behind at 151 and T-11th after a second round team-low of 74. A stroke behind Stutz was Lawler who matched his first round of 76 for total of 152 and a T-20th finish. The last spot on the team card was again taken by Clark who dropped four strokes for an 80 to finish 42nd at 164. Tripp posted an 83 for day two, finishing in 45th with a 168.
WOMEN
The Ohio Wesleyan women scored 389 during day one at Manakiki, led by
Audrey Nichols with an 88. Taking the other three spots on the team scorecard were
Bella Gales at 99,
Samantha Mazotas at 100, and
Carly Lehman at 102.
Angela Soellner shot 111.
The Bishops scored 397 on day two at Shaker Heights, finishing with a total of 786. Again, Nichols led with a team-low 92, totalling 180 for the tournament and finishing T-12th. Gales and Mazotas both shot second rounds of 102 to end up in 25th and 26th with 201 and 202 respectively. Lehman took the last spot on the scorecard with a 109 to tally 211 and finish 29th. Soellner shot 101 on day two, totaling 212 and finishing 30th.
UP NEXT
The Bishop women are back at it at Manakiki Golf Course again on October 4th and 5th at the JCU Fall Invitational. The OWU men will have to wait a couple days longer, slated to hit the course again on October 6th and 7th at the Wabash College Invitational at Broadmoor Country Club.
