NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's track & field traveled to Muskingum on Saturday for their first official action of the new calendar year at Muskie Meet #1. The Battling Bishops finished with the top spot in the team standings, dominating the 15-team field with 116.50 points. OWU put up 78 points on the track and 38.5 in the field.
TRACK EVENTS
Zoe Ward and
Brianna Montgomery secured 11 points for the Red and Black in the 3000 meter run, coming in third and fourth with nearly identical times at 10:20.37 and 10:20.73.
The 4x200 meter relay team of
Katherine Dortmund,
Aelyn Baumbarger,
Alaina Nathan, and
Kennedy Elfers added 10 points with a first place finish and a time of 1:45.09.
Dortmund and
Coral Pierson won 14 points for OWU in the 60 meter hurdles. Dortmund took 10 points with the top spot at 8.88 while Pierson secured four points after finishing fifth at 10.00.
Mia Staab grabbed five points for the Bishops with a fourth place finish in the 400 meter dash at 1:06.02.
The Battling Bishops picked up 15 points in the 500 meter dash thanks to
Kaylee Lusk and Elfers. Lusk secured first place and 10 points with a time of 1:20.81. Elfers finished fourth for five points with a time of 1:25.28.
The 60 meter dash saw Ohio Wesleyan walk away with 13 points following second and fourth place finishes by Nathan and Dortmund. Nathan ran a 7.89 for eight points with Dortmund just 0.03 seconds behind at 7.92 for five points.
Lusk and Dortmund added five points for the Bishops in the 200 meter dash, coming in seventh and eighth, separated by a thousandth of a second. Lusk had the ever-so-slightly better time at 27.409, securing three points. Dortmund came in at 27.410 for two points.
OWU would wrap up the day with five points after a fourth place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with Layla Bauknecht, Luck,
Abrianna Hite, and
Kateri Hoy running a 4:30.92.
FIELD EVENTS
Audrey Spooner and Claire Cambpell combined for 12 points in the triple jump. Spooner finished second, securing eight points with a mark of 10.08 meters. Campbell came in fifth with a mark of 9.68 meters for four points.
Niyah Shipman took second in the long jump with a mark of 4.96 meters, good for eight points. She also secured 3.5 points with a tie for fifth in the high jump after a mark of 1.50 meters.
Alexis Eusey added one point following a ninth place finish in the shot put with a mark of 10.42 meters.
The Bishops put up their final 14 points of the day in the pole vault thanks to second and third place finishes from
Addie Beck and
Stephanie Novak. Beck turned in a mark of 3.24 meters with Novak at 3.09 meters.
