DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's track & field team hosted Allegheny and Oberlin for a tri-meet at the OWU Team Challenge inside Gordon Field House on Saturday. The Battling Bishops finished first in the team standings with 151 points.
TRACK EVENTS
In the first final running of the day,
Zoe Ward and
Brianna Montgomery took first and second place in the mile run. Ward crossed the line with a time of 5:10.44, earning seven points. Montgomery followed closely, finishing with a time of 5:14.94 and tallying five points.
Next was the 4x200 meter relay, where Aelyn Baumberger,
Kennedy Elfers,
Kaylee Lusk, and
Alaina Nathan finished first with a 1:45.51. The squad earned seven points for the Bishops.
Katherine Dortmund took first place in the 60 meter hurdles, posting a 9.00 and nabbing seven points. Layla Bauknecht finished second with a time of 9.92, claiming five points.
In the 400 meter dash, Elfers and Lusk took the top two spots. Elfers crossed the line first among all competitors with a time of 1:01.07, securing seven points. Lusk finished with a 1:01.10, earning five points.
Dortmund secured another first place finish, this time in the 60 meter dash, finishing with a time of 7.86 and claiming seven more points for OWU. Nathan was not far behind, earning second place with a time of 8.04 and notching five points.
In the 800 meter run,
Elsa Hoam finished first, crossing the line with a time of 2:30.63 and claiming seven points.
Alyssa Henry came in sixth, earning two points for the Bishops with a time of 2:40.41.
The duo of Elfers and Nathan took first and second in the 200 meter dash. Elfers crossed with a time of 26.73, bringing home seven points. Nathan secured five points, finishing with a 27.19.
Hope Morris claimed five points for the Red and Black in the 3000 meter run, crossing the line with a time of 11:02.80.
Laura Wagner followed closely, finishing with a 11:11.93, and securing four points.
In the final track event, a 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Bauknecht,
McKenna Downing,
Abrianna Hite, and Lusk secured first place with a time of 4:16.81. The team earned seven points.
FIELD EVENTS
Addie Beck started the field events strong, jumping 3.40 meters and finishing first place in the pole vault.
Claire Coleman took third place, jumping 2.95 meters. Beck earned seven points, while Coleman earned four.
In the high jump,
Niyah Shipman and
Audrey Spooner took first and second place. Shipman jumped 1.48 meters and claimed seven points. Spooner recorded 1.43 meters, nabbing five points.
Emily Davis finished first in the weight throw, throwing 13.93 meters and securing seven points.
Jera Hoy took second, throwing 13.80 meters and earning five points.
Shipman also took first in the long jump, jumping 4.84 meters and claiming another seven points.
Claire Campbell finished second, recording 4.73 and tallying five points.
In the final field event, Hoy took the top spot in the shot put. She recorded 10.39 meters, taking home seven points.
Alexis Eusey finished second, also throwing 10.39 meters and claiming five points.
