BEREA, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University wrestling team competed at the John Summa Invite on Saturday. The Battling Bishops placed 12th in the 13-team field, scoring 37 points.
Anthony Rocco (3-2) was OWU's highest finisher, placing fifth overall in the 133 bracket securing 16 points. Rocco won his first and second match by fall at the 2:11-mark and 1:36-mark. From there, he lost his third match in a major decision 11-3 and his fourth match to tech fall 18-2. Fortunately he was able to bounce back and clinch the 5th place match, winning by fall 4:21.
Chuck Thomas (2-3) placed sixth overall in the 197 bracket and secured 11 points. Starting off strong Thomas won his first match by fall at the 2:13-mark. He proceeded to win his second match by major decision 11-3. Unfortunately he lost his next match by fall at 1:15, and had to medically forfeit his last two matches.
