BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ohio Wesleyan University sophomore sprinter
Katherine Dortmund returned to the track at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, competing in the final of the women's 60-meter hurdles.
Dortmund originally qualified for the national championship meet with an OWU-record 8.62 set at the NCAC Championships two weeks ago. She previously competed in the 60-meter dash at last season's national competition.
Seeded with the second-best time of 8.62 in heat two or prelims, Dortmund dropped 0.07 seconds to take the top spot in the heat with a 8.55, breaking her own OWU record. The win served as an automatic qualifier to the event final on Saturday and put her at fourth overall after prelims.
On Saturday, Dortmund managed to match her time perfectly in the final heat, finishing at 8.55 again and moving up one spot to third. Alongside a podium spot, she also takes home First Team All-American honors.
Dortmund and the rest of the Battling Bishops now turn their sights to the outdoor season, starting next weekend at the Washington & Lee Carnival in Lexington, Virginia.
