LEXINGTON, Va. – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's track & field team opened up the 2026 outdoor track & field season this past Friday and Saturday, competing at the Washington & Lee Carnival.
TRACK EVENTS
The Battling Bishops set new program records in both the 4x100-meter relay and the 100-meter dash.
Katherine Dortmund took part in both record-setting performances, first and foremost teaming up with
Aelyn Baumbarger,
Kennedy Elfers, and
Alaina Nathan to run a 46.99 in the relay.
Dortmund's second record-setting performance came in the 100-meter dash where she took first, followed by her relay teammates: Nathan in fifth, Baumbarger in eighth, and Elfers in ninth. Dortmund dropped the record to 12.11. Nathan ran a 12.50, Baumbarger ran a 12.63, and Elfers ran a 12.64.
Dortmund also took first in the 100-meter hurdles, joined in the top-10 by Layla Bauknecht in seventh. Dortmund turned in a 14.02 while Bauknecht turned in a 15.63.
Kaylee Lusk and Elfers tied for sixth in the 200-meter dash at 25.83 – a personal best for Lusk. Baumbarger finished 10th at 26.26.
Lusk took third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.43.
Bauknecht turned in a 1:07.20 for second in the 400-meter hurdles.
Elsa Hoam managed a personal-best 11:34.25 for second in the steeplechase.
Alyssa Henry nabbed third in the 5000-meter run at 20:08.72.
Lucy Johnson finished second in the 10000-meter run with a 41:40.47.
FIELD EVENTS
Emily Davis and
Jera Hoy finished first and fifth in the discus throw. Davis turned in a personal-best mark of 42.06 meters to take the top spot. Hoy threw for 33.93 meters. Davis also placed 10th in the hammer throw with a mark of 39.09 meters.
Five Bishops placed in the top-10 in the high jump:
Audrey Spooner in fifth at 1.56 meters,
Niyah Shipman and Bauknecht in sixth and seventh at 1.51 meters, and
Amarah McPhaul and
Hailey Harris tied for ninth at 1.46 meters.
Addie Beck,
Stephanie Novak, and
Claire Campbell took third, eighth, and 10th in the pole vault. Beck vaulted 3.38 meters, Novak vaulted 3.08 meters, and Coleman vaulted 3.08 meters as well.
Hoy turned in a mark of 10.42 meters in the shot put for ninth place.
Campbell and Spooner nabbed fifth and 10th in the triple jump with marks of 10.52 meters and 10.03 meters.

The Bishops are back in action next Friday at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Missouri.
