ST. LOUIS, Mo. and GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's track & field team traveled to Washington University in St. Louis on Friday to compete in the WashU Distance Carnival. On Saturday, the team hit the road to Granville for the Denison Lid-Lifter. The highlight of the weekend was a new program record in the 10000-meter run, set by junior
Sophie Cotts.
AT WASHU DISTANCE CARNIVAL
In the 1500-meter run,
Brianna Montgomery finished in 39th place after clocking a time of 4:46.19.
McKenna Downing was close behind, finishing 41st with a time of 4:46.19.
Zoe Ward secured 31st in the 5000-meter run with a 17:15.80.
Ella Chomic took 65th after clocking a time of 17:51.93.
Laura Wagner grabbed 97th, finishing with a time of 18:24.00.
Allison Dietz finished in 18:36.36, placing her in 125th place.
Hope Morris rounded out the Bishops in the event, placing 128th after clocking a time of 18:37.31.
In the 10000-meter run,
Sophie Cotts set a new program record and claimed 15th place with a time of 36:19.45.
AT DENISON LID-LIFTER
Elsa Hoam finished second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:49.25.
In the 800-meter run, Hoam took the podium once again, this time taking third after a 2:26.66.
Zora Starner followed close behind, nabbing fourth with a 2:28.66.
Reghan Gist rounded out the top five with a time of 2:28.71.
Emily Davis claimed second in the discus after a throw of 40.39 meters.
Jera Hoy took fifth with a toss of 35.80 meters.
In the javelin,
Alexis Eusey finished second with a toss of 31.44 meters.
Kali Kohler grabbed third after a throw of 28.84 meters.
Davis secured third in the hammer with a throw of 42.30 meters
Layla Bauknecht finished first in the high jump after leaping 1.56 meters.
Hailey Harris claimed fourth with a jump of 1.51 meters.
In the pole vault,
Addie Beck and
Stephanie Novak placed first and second with vaults of 3.43 meters each.
