DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's track & field team hosted their second home meet in two weeks on Friday and Saturday with the annual All-Ohio Championship at Selby Stadium and George Gauthier Track. The Battling Bishops dominated the 15-team field with 173.75 points – 70.75 points ahead of second-place Baldwin Wallace.
TRACK EVENTS
Katherine Dortmund claimed another title in the 100-meter dash, joining forces with
Alaina Nathan,
Amarah McPhaul, and
Aelyn Baumbarger to record 23 points for the Red and Black in the event. Dortmund turned in a time of 12.32 in first for 10 points. Nathan nabbed third at 12.53, earning six points. McPhaul and Baumbarger tied for fifth at 12.87, splitting seven points.
Dortmund,
Kennedy Elfers, and Nathan placed third, fourth, and eighth in the 200-meter dash to total 12 points. Dortmund and Elfers had a photo finish at 25.38 with the tiebreak going to Dortmund on a 0.003-second difference, resulting in 11 points between the two. Nathan was eighth at 26.22 for one point.
Kaylee Lusk and Elfers finished sixth and eighth in the 400-meter dash for a total of four points. Lusk was sixth with a time of 59.75. Elfers finished eighth with a time of 1:01.28.
Brianna Montgomery and
McKenna Downing grabbed 12 points in the 800-meter run. Montgomery turned in a 2:19.07 for second place and eight points. Downing ran a 2:21.11 for four points.
The Battling Bishops took the top four spots in the 1500-meter run with Montgomery, Downing,
Elsa Hoam, and
Allison Dietz crossing the line consecutively at 4:42.05, 4:44.49, 4:46.86, and 4:47.38, earning a collective 29 points.
Sophie Cotts and
Hope Morris secured 13 points in the 5000-meter run. Cotts took the top spot and 10 points at 17:49.90. Morris finished sixth for three points at 18:35.74.
Lucy Johnson and
Laura Wagner ran times of 39:05.68 and 39:42.54 for fourth and seventh and six points in the 10000-meter run.
Dortmund and Bauknecht bookended the 100-meter hurdles in first and eighth, totaling 11 points. Dortmund took another title and 10 points at 14.04. Bauknecht took eighth and one point at 15.67.
Bauknect claimed third and six points in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.09.
Hoam won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a 11:14.66, earning 10 points.
The Red and Black 4x100-meter relay team of Baumbarger, Elfers, Dortmund, and Nathan claimed first and 10 points with a time of 48.10.
The Bishops' 4x400-meter relay team of Bauknecht, Lusk,
Mia Staab, and Montgomery ran a 4:05.68 for third place and six points.
FIELD EVENTS
Layla Bauknecht,
Audrey Spooner, and
Hailey Harris finished in a four-way tie for eighth place in the high jump at 1.48 meters, splitting one point four ways.
Addie Beck tied for sixth in the pole vault at 3.40 meters, taking a two-point share of six points.
Claire Campbell claimed sixth in the long jump at 4.71 meters, taking three points.
Campbell and
Jada Colvin finished second and seventh in the triple jump with marks of 10.58 meters and 10.08 meters, earning a collective 10 points.
Emily Davis and
Jera Hoy were back-to-back in the discus in second and third. Davis tossed a mark of 41.00 meters while Hoy hurled 39.42 meters, totaling 14 points.
Hazel Jolliff finished eighth in the javelin, earning one point with a mark of 32.39 meters.
