GAMBIER, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's track & field team competed at the Duane Gomez Invitational hosted by Kenyon on Saturday. The Battling Bishops took the top spot in the eight-team field with an astounding 222 points – 119 ahead of second-place Mount Vernon Nazarene.

TRACK EVENTS
The Bishops started with 12 points in the 100-meter dash thanks to Katherine Dortmund and Aelyn Baumbarger. Dortmund was second with a time of 12.71. Baumbarger was fifth with a 12.90.

Kennedy Elfers and Kaylee Lusk combined for 11 points for OWU in the 400-meter dash. Elfers finished third with a time of 1:00.06. Lusk came in fourth with a 1:00.71.

Elfers and Lusk also secured 13 points in the 200-meter dash. Elfers finished first overall at 26.20. Lusk was sixth at 26.66.

Ohio Wesleyan collected 14 points in the 800-meter run via second and third place finishes by Brianna Montgomery and McKenna Downing. Montgomery earned second with a time of 2:18.49. Downing nabbed third with a 2:21.71.

The Red and Black reeled in 27 points in the 1500-meter run with five placers. Elsa Hoam and Ella Chomic came it at the top two spots with times of 4:47.57 and 4:49.56. Allison Dietz turned in a 4:53.28 for fourth, followed by Zora Starner in sixth at 4:59.50, and Reghan Gist in eighth at 5:08.54.

Lucy Johnson and Lexy Starner recorded 10 points for the Bishops in the 5000-meter run. Johnson was second with a 18:48.69. Starner was seventh with a 19:36.85.

The Battling Bishops saw three placers secure 21 points in the 100-meter hurdles, led by Dortmund in first place with a time of 14.49. Layla Bauknecht and Coral Pierson finished third and fourth with times of 16.05 and 16.48.

Bauknecht and Kateri Hoy collected 13 points for OWU in the 400-meter hurdles. Bauknecht took the top spot with a time of 1:08.22. Hoy ran a 1:14.75 for seventh.

The Bishops 4x100-meter relay team of Baumbarger, Elfers, Dortmund, and Alaina Nathan turned in a 47.55 for first place and 10 points.

Ohio Wesleyan's top 4x400-meter relay, consisting of Tianna Haten, Nathan, Hailey Harris, and Claire Campbell came in third, scoring six points.

FIELD EVENTS
Layla Bauknecht, Kali Kohler, and Kateri Hoy took home seven points in the high jump. Bauknecht came in third with a mark of 1.46 meters. Kohler and Hoy tied for eighth at 1.36 meters.

Four Battling Bishops found a spot in the top-eight for a total of 16 points. Addie Beck took second with a mark of 3.40 meters. Stephanie Novak and Sarah Radloff were fifth and sixth with identical marks of 3.25 meters. Sarah Youngquist finished eighth with a mark of 2.95 meters.

Claire Campbell and Jada Colvin nabbed second and fourth in the triple jump with marks of 9.93 meters and 9.55 meters for a total of 13 points.

Alexis Eusey finished eighth in the shot put with a mark of 10.31 meters, securing one point.

The Red and Black claimed the top two spots and 18 points in the discus. Emily Davis finished first at 44.52 meters. Jera Hoy was right behind in second at 43.94 meters.

Davis combined with Emma Hall for five points in the hammer throw. Hall tossed a mark of 40.98 meters for sixth place. Davis tossed 40.27 meters for seventh place.

The Bishops put up 24 points in the javelin with five in the top-eight. Hazel Jolliff and Eusey were first and second with marks of 35.93 meters and 32.65 meters. Phoebe Dreschel, Mia Staab, and Kohler secured sixth through eighth with marks of 28.56 meters, 27.88 meters, and 25.04 meters.

The Battling Bishops split up three ways next weekend, with contingents traveling to the Big Red Invitational on Friday, the Grand Valley Extra Weekend Meet on Saturday, and the NCAC Combined-Events Championship on Saturday and Sunday.
