DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's track & field team hosted the Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday. The Battling Bishops finished first among eight teams with 235 points. Sophomore
Katherine Dortmund set program records in both the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles – also setting the nation's top time in the hurdles this season.
TRACK EVENTS
Katherine Dortmund started the day with history in the 100-meter dash, taking first place and 10 points with a program-record time of 12.00.
Alaina Nathan was close behind, taking third and six points after clocking a 12.28.
Amarah McPhaul and
Aelyn Baumbarger took sixth and seventh places for three and two points after finishing with times of 12.38 and 12.40, respectively.
In the 200-meter dash, four Bishops placed in the top six. Dortmund led the pack once again, nabbing third and six points by a time of 26.87.
Kaylee Lusk finished fourth for five points after clocking a time of 26.93. Nathan claimed fifth and four points with a 27.24, and McPhaul rounded out the top six with a 27.36 for three points.
Lusk followed up her 200-meter dash performance with a stellar 400-meter dash outing, taking first and 10 points by a time of 10:00.18
The Bishops dominated the 800-meter run, with
Brianna Montgomery leading the way and taking the top spot for 10 points with a 2:20.67.
McKenna Downing secured third place and six points with a time of 2:24.55.
Zora Starner took fourth and five points after clocking a time of 2:31.08.
In the 1500-meter run, the duo of
Ella Chomic and
Allison Dietz finished second and third for eight and six points with times of 4:57.74 and 5:00.81, respectively.
Lucy Johnson took the top spot in the 5000-meter run, clocking a time of 19:48.52 for 10 points.
History was made in the 100-meter hurdles, as sophomore
Katherine Dortmund clocked a blazing time of 13.84 for 10 points and first place – both a new program record and the current best time in the country. Layla Bauknecht secured sixth place and three points after finishing with a time of 15.37.
Coral Pierson took seventh with a 15.86 for two points.
Bauknecht shined again in the 400-meter hurdles, taking third place and six points with a time of 1:06.72.
Elsa Hoam finished first in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a 11:33.88, scoring 10 points.
The quartet of Baumbarger, Dortmund, McPhaul, and Nathan placed first and claimed 10 points in the 4x100, clocking a time of 47.77.
In the 4x400, Bauknecht,
Kennedy Elfers, Lusk, and
Mia Staab finished second for eight points with a 4:07.84.
FIELD EVENTS
In the high jump,
Hailey Harris secured third place in six points by clearing the bar at 1.52 meters.
Audrey Spooner claimed fourth for five points with a mark of 1.47 meters, while
Amarah McPhaul and Layla Bauknecht cleared the exact same height to finish in a tie for fifth, splitting seven points.
Addie Beck finished tied for first place in the pole vault after vaulting 3.55m, splitting 18 points.
Stephanie Novak vaulted 3.40 meters, good for fourth and five points.
Claire Campbell and
Jada Colvin claimed the top two spots in the triple jump after jumping 10.16 meters and 10.12 meters, respectively earning 10 and eight points.
In the discus,
Emily Davis finished second for eight points with a toss of 38.74 meters.
Jera Hoy took fourth and five points with a throw of 37.05 meters.
Davis grabbed the top spot and 10 points in the hammer with a throw of 44.23 meters.
In the javelin,
Hazel Jolliff secured third place and eight points after a toss of 34.31 meters.
Alexis Eusey nabbed fifth and four points with a throw of 30.09 meters.
