ALLIANCE, Ohio and ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's track & field team competed in their final two last chance meets on Wednesday and Thursday, looking to put up top marks in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships next week in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
The Bishops' field contingent of
Hazel Jolliff,
Addie Beck,
Emily Davis, and
Jera Hoy headed to Mount Union on Wednesday, while the track contingent of
Katherine Dortmund,
Alaina Nathan,
Aelyn Baumbarger, and
Kennedy Elfers set off to Augustana on Thursday.
AT MOUNT UNION
The Battling Bishops top placer at Mount Union was
Hazel Jolliff in the javelin, throwing for third place with a mark of 34.91 meters.
Addie Beck came in sixth in the pole vault, topping 3.53 meters.
Emily Davis and
Jera Hoy both competed in the discus. Davis was seventh with a throw of 40.72 meters. Hoy was 10th with a throw of 34.46 meters.
AT AUGUSTANA
The quartet of
Aelyn Baumbarger,
Kennedy Elfers,
Katherine Dortmund, and
Alaina Nathan turned in yet another record-breaking performance in the 4x100-meter relay, dropping the Red and Black record in the event for a third time this season to 46.84 – good for third place at the meet and tying the 15th-best time in Division III this season.
Nathan ran in the 100-meter dash, earning a spot in the finals for the event with a 12.33 in prelims. She dropped that time down to a 12.28 in finals for seventh overall.
Dortmund earned a spot in the 100-meter hurdles finals with a 14.04 in prelims. She kept pace with a 14.10 in finals to take first overall.
