Ohio Wesleyan University junior Nate Axelrod (Dublin/Coffman) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 16, it was announced by the NCAC.
Axelrod, a guard on the Ohio Wesleyan men's basketball team, was named Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Axelrod scored 10 points during a 15-0 run that gave Ohio Wesleyan the lead for good in an 84-78 win at Hiram on Wednesday. He finished with career-high 39 points, going 15-for-21 from the field, including 4-for-9 from 3-point range. He then drilled a 3-pointer during a 10-0 run that put the Bishops ahead to stay in Ohio Wesleyan's 107-83 win over Allegheny on Saturday. He finished with 12 points and 8 assists. On the week, Axelrod averaged 25.5 points per game.
