Meet the Bishops: Get to know a little about Ashley Smiley of the Ohio Wesleyan women's soccer team
Class Year: 2021
Major: Zoology
How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
After many visits, OWU was where I felt the most comfortable. I loved the small classroom environments and felt at home with both the soccer and track teams.
How/Why did you choose your major?
I have always wanted to do something with animals, and majoring in zoology is beneficial for my desired career working in wildlife rehabilitation.
What is your favorite memory on the Ohio Wesleyan soccer team?
My favorite memory on the OWU soccer team is scoring the winning goal against Hiram, with 4 minutes left in regulation, my freshman year.
What do you like most about the position that you play?
I’m a forward on the team. I love getting the ball behind the defenders on breakaways and scoring goals.
Do you have any pre-game rituals or superstitions?
One of my teammates rolls my calves and hamstrings before every game, and the whole team writes “believe” on our left wrists.
What is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
I love Hamburger Inn. They have awesome cinnamon rolls and pancakes.
What movie or TV show would you like to star in and why?
I would like to be on the TV show "Survivor." It’s my and my family's all-time favorite show and I think it would be super cool to compete on.
What is your theme song?
I love "Don’t Stop Believing" by Journey. That song never gets old.
