Name:  Joey Duke

Class year:  2024

Majors:  Pre-medicine, biology

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan because it has a history of success.  I also chose OWU because of the coaching staff, they made me feel welcome and I knew I could grow as a player and a person in the program.  I also chose it because it also has a rich academic history.

Why did you choose your major?
I chose my major because I am interested in health care.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose to compete in sports at OWU because of its tradition.  I grew up watching OWU having success and I wanted to be a part of it.

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
Before every game I retie my shoes.

What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
My strength as an athlete is my ability to get my teammates involved and get them open shots.

Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
I would like to thank Coach (Mike) DeWitt for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the program.  He has helped me grow not only as a player but as a person as well.

What are your plans for after graduation?
My plans for after graduation are to go to anesthesiologist assistant school.

What is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
My favorite place to eat in Delaware is Restoration Brew Worx and I always get the wings when I go there.

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
Michael Jordan, Lionel Messi, and George Washington

If you could visit another time, when would it be and why?
I would travel back to when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon because I feel like that moment really captivated the whole nation and I would just want to see the reactions of people witnessing this historic event.

What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a student-athlete?
I would tell them to learn time management skills.  Balancing sports and school is challenging so figuring out how to manage your time is important.

What is your dream job and why?
My dream job is to be an NBA general manager.  Being in control of an NBA team has always been a dream of mine.
