ALBION, Mich. – The Ohio Wesleyan University wrestling team traveled up to Michigan on Sunday, competing in the Albion Invitational. The Battling Bishops finished ninth in the 16-team field with 47.5 points.
Magnus Lloyd (4-0) locked in OWU's highest finish of the day, winning the 174 bracket. He took his first bout on major decision 10-0, followed by a 3-1 default win after 3:24 in his second bout. From there, he took bout three by a decision of 14-9 before finishing it out with a 13-5 major decision in the final bout.
Alvin Osadebe (5-1) finished third in the 197 bracket thanks to a great run after his first defeat. He started off with a 5-4 decision in his first bout of the day but fell by a 10-4 decision in bout two to teammate Chuck Thomas. Osadebe would bounce back in bout three with a 3-0 victory. From there he took bouts for and five on major decisions with respective scores of 13-5 and 12-4. Finally, he won the rematch with teammate Thomas in the third place bout on medical forfeit.
Thomas (2-2) finished right behind Osadebe at fourth in the 197 bracket. He started out with a 10-4 victory over Osadebe in his first bout 10-4 before suffering a 4-2 in his second bout. Thomas bounced back in bout three with an 11-0 win before finally conceding the third place bout to Osadebe on medical forfeit.
