ADA, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University wrestling team competed at the ONU Invitational on Saturday. The Battling Bishops finished 12th in the 13-team field, scoring 29.5 points.
Chuck Thomas (3-2) was OWU's highest finisher of the day, placing fourth overall in the 197 bracket and scored 16.5 team points. He won his first match 8-5 by decision. Thomas then took his second match in 1:12 and third in 6:23, both due to falls. He was taken down in the semifinals but recovered in the consolation semifinal 8-6 before medically forfeiting his final match.
Anthony Rocco (2-3) placed sixth in the 133 bracket and scored 12 team points. Rocco won his first match 16-8 with a major decision. He then went on to win his second match by fall in 47 seconds. Rocco made it to semifinals but unfortunately had to medically forfeit his last three matches.
Alvin Osadebe (1-2) made it to the 197 quarterfinals and scored two team points.
Gabe Bulugaris (1-2) won his opening match and scored one team point.
