CLEVELAND, Ohio – On Tuesday morning, the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) announced its Athletes of the Week for the past week of competition. Ohio Wesleyan University junior distance runner
Sophie Cotts was selected as the NCAC Athlete of the Week for the women's track & field distance division. This is her first time receiving weekly recognition.
Cotts set a new Ohio Wesleyan program record in the 10000-meter run on Friday, competing at the WashU Distance Carnival. In St. Louis, she ran the 10K in 36:19.45 and finished 15th overall. Her time beat the previous OWU record by over 20 seconds.
Cotts and the Red and Black are at their home track this weekend, hosting the Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday.
Cotts is the 22nd NCAC Athlete of the Week for Ohio Wesleyan this academic year.
