Ohio Wesleyan University freshman Lauren Corcoran (Tampa, Fla./Plant) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of March 14, it was announced by the NCAC.
Corcoran, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan women's tennis team, was named Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Corcoran went 3-1 in singles play during Ohio Wesleyan's spring trip last week, helping the Bishops to a 2-2 overall record. She won at No. 2 singles against Juniata by scores of 6-0, 6-0 and lost at No. 2 singles against Coe in a 7-6 (11-9), 2-6, 10-1 marathon. Corcoran then moved up to No. 1 and posted a 6-0, 6-0 win against Penn State-Berks and a 6-0, 6-2 win against St. Mary's. Of the 7 sets she won during the week, 5 victories came by a 6-0 score, including a pair of 6-0, 6-0 decisions. In doubles play, she went 3-0 at No. 1, winning decisions against Juniata, Coe, and Penn State-Berks before falling at No. 2 against St. Mary's.
