John Sloan III '56 earned 4 letters in track.  A pole vaulter, he was underfeated in indoor dual meets and won 35 of 36 outdoor dual meets.  Sloan was Ohio Athletic Conference champion 4 times.  In 1955, he had the best vault in the state at 13-4 5/8, which won the All-Ohio meet. He placed fifth in the NCAA the same year.  As a senior, he was president of the W-Clan and captain of the track team.
