Ohio Wesleyan Athletics Hall of Fame
Matt Schrader '91 was an All-America midfielder, a clutch scorer on some of Ohio Wesleyan's best soccer teams. He won second-team All-America and first-team All-Mideast, All-Ohio and All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as a senior after ranking fifth in the NCAC with 21 goals and 7 assists. He scored the Bishops' first 2 goals against Kenyon in the NCAA regional championship game, then scored the game-winning goal in the national semifinal game against Wheaton and scored the tying goal in the national championship game against Glassboro State. The Bishops went 20-4-1, losing national championship on penalty kicks that year. As a junior, he was a first-team All-Mideast and All-NCAC selection and a second-team All-Ohio pick after ranking sixth in the NCAC in scoring with 14 goals and 3 assists. He scored the game-winning goal in overtime in an NCAA Division III first-round game against DePauw, then added a goal in the regional championship game against Wheaton. His sophomore season, he was an honorable mention All-Ohio and All-NCAC choice after ranking fourth on the team in scoring with 9 goals and 5 assists. He scored both Ohio Wesleyan goals in an NCAA regional first-round game, including the tying goal with 4:03 left in regulation time, but Kalamazoo advanced on PKs after a 2-2 tie.
