Jon Van Horn ’01 was an All-America midfielder in men's soccer who capped a brilliant senior year with third-team All-America and first-team all-region, All-Ohio, and All-NCAC honors. He was named NCAC Offensive Player of the Year after compiling 11 goals and 2 assists. In postseason play, he was named to the All-NCAC tournament team and scored the game-winning goal in an NCAA contest against DePauw. Ohio Wesleyan was 23-1-0 overall, won the NCAC championship with a 9-0 record, took the inaugural NCAC tournament crown, and advanced to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals. His sophomore year, he moved into the starting lineup and assisted game-winning goals against Chicago and Wilmington before setting up the game-winner in the national semifinal game against Williams. Ohio Wesleyan went on to win the national championship that season. As a junior, he helped the Bishops win the NCAC championship by tallying the game-winner against Earlham. In NCAA action, he assisted the game-winner in the NCAA first round against Bethany and set up the go-ahead goal in an NCAA win against Gettysburg. Ohio Wesleyan was 75-18-1 during his 4 years, including a mark of 31-3 in the NCAC, won 3 conference championships, and advanced to the regional finals (final 16) once, the national quarterfinals twice, and won a national championship.
